Frost and Eucharist

It was frosty and quiet as we gathered in an old church in Westminster. It was my first church service in many months. There were 12 of us and the familiar words of greeting resonated within.

‘The Lord be with you

and also with you.’

We shared the peace

‘In the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us. To shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and guide our feet into the way of peace. The peace of the Lord be always with you.’

And some bread and wine.

‘Great is the mystery of Faith. Christ has died : Christ is risen : Christ will come again. ‘

Angels looked on. And then we were dismissed into the frosty night with these words

‘Let us go into the world loving all those we meet and seeking to discern God wherever we are led.

In the name of Christ, Amen.’

And somehow it was enough.
