It often seems people go out of their way to avoid eye contact on the journey to work in the mornings. Especially in the city centre as people walk along, earphones in, heads buried in their scarves. Until those moments of contact like this morning. Noticing myself on collision course I sidestepped to the left – so did the guy coming towards me. We then went the same way a couple of times before exchanging laughter and a moment of connection that set a crisp Monday morning off with a smile.

    I love these little connections with strangers, when the smle reminds me that the default scowl everyone wears in the morning hides so much more.
