Light in unexpected places

Just as I was settling in for a quiet Saturday evening by my phoenix flamed fire, friends offered us tickets (free!) for Foy Vance’s Mandela Hall, Belfast gig.

Despite the deluge outside, I & the packed audience were treated to Foy’s unique mix of the profound, profane, intelligent yet witty loops & rhythms.  Into the darkness of the crowded house came light & grace in unexpected measure.

As the man said, “it doesn’t take a whole day to recognise sunshine”
